Creative Ways to Decorate for Your Valentine's Day Party

Hosting a Valentine’s Day party this year and feeling the pressure to have the perfect decorations? Or are you just hoping to make your home festive for your family to celebrate the holiday of love?

Valentine’s Day party decorations can take a lot of directions but they don’t always need to be romantic, luxurious and sophisticated. This is a holiday where you can be fun and playful, celebrating the many kinds of love we experience every day. So get creative!

This year, decorate your home with some of our ideas below for a festive, creative and original look.

Conversation Heart Candles

This is so incredibly simple but will give your home a playful, but elegant, touch. Get a large glass vase, and fill the bottom half with conversation heart candies. Then place a candle in the bottom, digging it into the candy to keep it in place.

Any kind of heart shaped candy will work for this one but try to stay away from chocolates so they don’t melt. We suggest using scented candles that are either pink or red to keep the theme going but white candles will also give you a classy look. Make as many vases as you want to create a set of Valentine’s candles for your front porch or even the bathroom.

Hugs and Kisses Valentine’s Day Wreath

This decoration requires a little more effort; you will need grapevines, artificial berries, wire, glue and thick ribbon.

Use the artificial berries, we suggest red ones, to form your “X”, wrapping wire around the center where the two pieces meet. Use the grapevines to form the “O”, using glue and wire where necessary to keep the rounded shape in place.

Take two short pieces of wire and secure one end to each side of the “X” and the other end of each to the top of the “O” so when held up by the “X” it reads “XO”. Then, take your ribbon and loop it through the wire where it is holding the two pieces of the “X” together and tie a big bow with the two ends of the ribbon, leaving enough ribbon for the wreath to hang down.

Put your Hugs and Kisses wreath on your front door to welcome your guests over the holiday! And if you want some sparkle in your wreath try adding some small flashing red lights throughout.

String of Hearts Garland

Looking for some creative Valentine’s Day garland? This decoration is very simple, all you need is a few packs of cards, Valentine’s day ribbon of your choice and a single hole puncher.

Take all of the hearts-suited cards out of the decks and set aside - since 13 heart cards come in a standard deck we suggest using at least 2 packs. Use the hole punch to punch two holes in each of the cards, each about a half inch from the top of the card and about an inch away from each other.

Then string your ribbon through the cards to form your garland and Voila! You can use multiple kinds of ribbon and tie bows throughout for even more of a fun, festive look.

Valentine’s Day Mason Jars

Mason jar decorations are very popular because they are easy to find, there are so many ways to use them and they make for a classy addition to your decorations. An easy way to use mason jars to decorate for your Valentine’s Day party is to use stencils and spraypaint to put letters or hearts on them. We suggest spelling out “Love” on 4 jars for a great mantlepiece.

Our other favorite way to make Valentine’s Day mason jars requires mason jars, doilies, twine and hand cut hearts. Place your hand-cut heart on top of the doily, then wrap the twine around the jar and the doily and heart to secure them together, tieing your twine in a bow on top of the heart.

Fill the mason jars with flowers or candles to make a centerpiece, use them as glasses for fun Valentine’s day drinks, use them as weights for a Valentine’s balloon arrangement or fill them with candy and give them out as favors at your party!

Don’t have the creative touch or time to decorate this year? When all else fails, grab some heart shaped balloon arrangements for a perfect, decorative touch in minutes. Don’t stress yourself out about decorating for Valentine’s Day this year. There are plenty of ways to fill your home with festive, crafty, and fun decorations that will make for a memorable event!
