Decoration Ideas for Your St. Patrick's Day Party

Whether you’re celebrating Irish heritage, searching for a pot of gold, or enjoying a green beverage, St. Patrick’s Day is a great opportunity to gather with friends and family to have a pinch of light-hearted fun. While the holiday traditionally marks the introduction of Christianity to Ireland and the patron saint of the nation, you don’t have to hail from the Emerald Isle to enjoy the festivities.

Shamrocks, rainbows and pots of gold are some of the universal symbols of the feast day and are great elements to incorporate into any St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Whether you’re entertaining a group of leprechaun-sized children or hosting a grownup get-together, there are many simple and fun ways to add a wee bit of Irish luck to your party.

Follow the Rainbow

If you’re looking for that illustrious pot of gold, the best place to start is with a rainbow. Welcome guests with an inviting display of colorful (and delicious) candy.

Remember, "Roy G. Biv" when you’re choosing wholesale candy to provide a spectrum of sweet options in individual jars. Start by collecting 6-7 glass or plastic containers to arrange in a row. Fill your first container exclusively with red treats, the next with orange sweets and so on, until you have a rainbow of sorted candy on display.

Let your rainbow soar by adding colorful corresponding fringe garland or craft paper on the wall behind your candy-filled containers. It might not take guests straight to the pot of gold, but they’ll have plenty of sweet treasures waiting for them at the end of this rainbow.

Go Green

While some of us go all out for St. Patty’s Day, others may see it only as a fun little detour in between

Valentine’s Day and Easter. Either way, it’s easy to reuse items from other holidays when decorating for your St. Patrick’s Day party.

Create a unique pot of gold centerpiece by breaking out your old witches’ cauldron from Halloween and filling it with wholesale candy, like gold Lindor chocolates or butterscotch candies. Still holding on to leftover Christmas sweets? Separate foil-wrapped candy and use the green and gold pieces to fill the treasure pot. Get creative and add more recycled decor, like green and gold Mardi Gras beads, so that your pot of gold overflows with spirited notes from all seasons.

You can even print out a scavenger hunt to lead your guests to the treasure—it’s easier than hunting down a leprechaun!

Luck of the Irish

Before you dig into a hearty meal of corned beef and cabbage, you’ll need a festive table.

Create a bright spread by incorporating party favors and fanfare into the place settings. Drape a flashing shamrock necklace across each plate and set a pair of clover-shaped glasses nearby. Cut out shamrock shapes from craft paper to sprinkle across the table and share good fortune with your guests.

No matter what the size of your shamrock shindig, you’re sure to have the luck of the Irish on your side with these effortless decorating tips. Keep your eyes open for those mischievous leprechauns and you may be able to spot even more creative party ideas right before your eyes.
